The Italian Fresh Mercato is a locally owned Fresh Food Market opening in Griffith Central Shopping Centre. We are for the lovers of fresh and local ingredients looking to recreate the authentic Italian experience at home.

With a strong Italian and Mediterranean influence, we are selling not only your pantry staples but an exceptional range of handmade produce, deli goods, imported cheeses, fresh seafood, quality meats and local wines. Our pizza bar, café and tasting station provides the everyday shopper with a unique and personalised experience.

About you

You are looking to support a new local business with your finance, administration and human resource management experience. Your effective organisation skills combined with your eye for detail, allows you to identify value-adding business improvements while implementing streamlined payment processes and procedures. You are passionate about supporting the culture at the Italian Fresh Mercato and pride yourself on your ability to build long-lasting relationships with vendors and suppliers.

What are we looking for?

  • Managing day to day accounts payable and accounts receivable functions including the processing of invoices and payments, managing purchase orders and monitoring expenditures
  • Processing payroll in Xero including managing employee leave requests, approving timesheets, processing employee expense claims and monitoring wage costs
  • Weekly and monthly reporting on financials to management
  • Reconciling supplier statements and company credit cards
  • Providing human resource management support to the company including assisting with recruitment and performance management, issuing employment contracts, maintaining up-to-date policies and procedures, understanding and interpreting applicable Awards and implementing best practice procedures
  • Coordinating training sessions for applicable departments
  • Working with department managers and the Store Manager to resolve employee or team issues and improve company culture
  • Understanding and assisting with the implementation Work Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate reports and invoices
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve processing efficiencies

You will have:

  • High levels of computer literacy and ability to accurately record and understand data
  • Experience using Xero accounting software including Xero’s payroll function
  • Experience in accounts payable and receivable
  • Experience in a human resource management role is desirable
  • Qualification in a finance, business studies, accounting, human resources or a related field (Certificate IV and above preferred)
  • Strong attending to detail, effective problem solving and decision making abilities
